What's the first thing you do as soon as you wake up in the morning?
Check your messages? Scroll through your emails?
We all do.
In this episode of The MyndStories Moments, Smitha talks about how to best utilize the first two hours of your workday, which are also the most productive.
Regardless of whether you are an early morning person or a night owl the first two hours when you begin working is the most critical part of your day. This is when your mind is at its freshest and you have the rest of your day ahead of you.
Begin your workday with a 90-minute work session. According to the Huberman Lab podcast, where Smitha heard of this method first, our brains are optimally wired to function at peak performance for 90 minutes before we need a break.
Here’s what Smitha suggests you do to optimize those 90 minutes:
- Decide on what gives you the most value (like generating leads or revenue) and work towards achieving that.
- Don’t check your emails or messages
- Turn off notifications
- Put on ambient music without lyrics, if you like
- At the end of 90 minutes give yourself a 10-15 minute rest with minimal sensory stimulation
Smitha found that following this method helped her gain greater focus, make faster progress, and get closer to her goals.
