IGNOU launches mental health diploma course for healthcare graduates
Written by Team MyndStories

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is now providing an opportunity for healthcare graduates to enhance their skills in mental health. The university’s Discipline of Psychology, School of Social Sciences (SoSS) has launched a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health (PGDMH) through distance learning.

The comprehensive program is designed to build capacity among individuals by training them to better address the growing mental health needs within communities. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of psychological issues and concerns through a curriculum covering fundamentals, disorders, specialized areas, services, and an internship.

Eligible candidates for the PGDMH include those with a master’s degree in psychology, social work, nursing, or medical graduates from various streams like allopathy, Ayurveda, homeopathy, dental surgery, and others. The flexible, open and distance learning format allows students to study at their own pace while continuing their professional commitments.

Admissions are open twice a year, in July and January. The total fee for the program is Rs 9,300, which includes the course fee of Rs 9,000 and a registration charge of Rs 300.

With several regional study centers across cities like Bangalore, Bhopal, Nagpur, Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Ranchi, Noida, Jabalpur, Varanasi, and Patna, IGNOU ensures the PGDMH program is easily accessible to students across the country.
