You are not alone: Illuminating paths of hope on World Suicide Prevention day
Written by Team MyndStories

The noise of daily life can drown out the whispers of pain. This is why there is a crucial need for open conversations about mental health.

In about 19 days, we have World Suicide Prevention Day. On September 10.

Unlike World Mental Health Day that corporates embrace with fervor, this day passes by almost unnoticed. There won’t be grand ads from brands. After all, why should we care that in 2021, about 164,000 Indians took their lives? The highest since 1967? Not our problem. Mental Health Day is cute: talk apps, self-care, hold workshops, and be proud that you have EAPs. You have done your bit. Your CSR rocks. This serious stuff? Leave it out, please. Don’t distress our employees. We have appraisals coming up.

We don’t want our students to even hear about it, please. They have exams coming up. And they must get 99.9%. And let’s not even talk about how more men die by suicide than women in India. We are cool.

But at MyndStories, we will talk. We shouldn’t be losing lives – people who light up our lives – to an illness we can prevent. Not all the time, yes. But many times.

That’s why we are launching #YouAreNotAlone: a MyndStories campaign that celebrates life. The lives of those who died by suicide. The lives of those who are here.

This is more than just a campaign. It’s a call to action, encouraging people to break the silence.

Conversations hold within them an intangible balm, capable of healing unseen wounds.

Send us your stories of life. Of hope. Of pain. Of grief. Because life is all this. And we will celebrate it as long as we can.

Your participation is pivotal:

Embrace your narrative: Embrace vulnerability by sharing personal experiences through mental health challenges. Yours or of the ones you love.

Amplify awareness: Leverage your social media channels to amplify the campaign’s reach

Lend an ear: Sometimes, the greatest gift you can give is your presence. Extend your presence to those in need, give them a safe space and be a true listener.

Every voice matters.

If you are a founder or a mental health professional or an NGO or just simply someone who wants to share your story or participate in some way do write to us at content@myndstories.com

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿: 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗔𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲.

On that note, we ask for your support. Be part of a world where we can be kinder.

Help support mental health

Every mind matters. Every donation makes a difference. Together, we can break down stigmas and create a more compassionate world.
